Do Not Sell

Last Updated: November 7, 2024

When you shop online, it’s essential to trust that your privacy is protected and not up for sale. At Similarlooks, we take your trust seriously and aim to be as transparent as possible about how we share or "sell" personal information with third parties. How we handle this information largely depends on the nature of your activity on Similarlooks, whether you’re shopping or creating content.

But first, we’d like to explain a little about how our service works.

Shoppers on Similarlooks

When you shop for an item on Similarlooks, you’re not buying directly from us, as we’re not a retailer or brand. Instead, Similarlooks provides links that take you to the brand’s website where you can purchase the item. Sometimes, these links go through an affiliate network — a platform for retailers — first. If you decide to make a purchase, the Creator who referred you earns a commission.

When you click these links, standard metadata is shared, similar to any link click on the internet. This lets the brand know the item you’re interested in, that you came from Similarlooks, and — importantly — which Creator should receive credit if you complete the purchase. However, unless you log into the brand's site and share your information, the brand won’t know who you are.

We do not sell your personal information to brands or affiliate networks. All content on Similarlooks is created by our Creators or by us. While some Creator posts may be sponsored by third parties, clicking on a link is the only instance where your information might be passed to a brand. Even then, Similarlooks does not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising, except when standard website cookies are involved.

Cookies on our website

On our website, we use common tools like Google Analytics, Facebook pixels, and social media cookies, which collect data such as your IP address, device type, and other metadata. Since we cannot control this data once it leaves our site, some U.S. laws consider the use of analytics and tracking pixels as a “sale” of personal information. You can manage our use of these cookies anytime with the cookie preferences tool on our website. We also honor Global Privacy Control signals if your browser is set up to send them. For further details on how we share personal information with third parties, please refer to our Privacy Statement.

Creators on Similarlooks

As a Similarlooks Creator, when a shopper clicks on an item in your shop, the link redirects them to the brand’s website, often via an affiliate network. This link contains a unique identifier that allows us to recognize your referral and pay you a commission if a purchase is made.

In some states, this may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, as Similarlooks doesn’t control the data once it’s shared with brands or affiliate networks. While we don’t sell your information to data brokers, the sharing of your information with brands and affiliate networks may legally be regarded as a sale.

You have the right to request that we refrain from selling or sharing your personal information. However, this will limit the ways we can provide services to you. As a Creator, while you may continue to shop and use Similarlooks’s platform, links, and tools, you’ll need to agree to certain data-sharing practices for us to effectively support your Creator activities.

Creators, like Shoppers, can manage their website cookie preferences using our cookie tool. If you prefer not to share personal information with brands and affiliate networks and wish to close your Creator account, please contact us at zhugeyu@gmail.com.
